I started my journey in the HNG Internship 8 organized by the Zuri team (internship.zuri.team) on the 12th of August 2021 when I was admitted into the workspace on slack. It has been an educative and interesting journey so far. Below are some of the goals I consider necessary for me to achieve by the end of the 8-week training in my Frontend Development stack.
A) Mastering Technical Skills:
My goal is to master technical skills in Frontend Web Development by the end of HNG Internship 8. I would like to improve on what I know and be ready for the professional world of programming.
I would want to learn how to conduct good online research on various programming languages and syntax using Google and other online resources.
I would like to learn how to implement good user interface designs in a professional way and aim towards a good user experience.
B) Gaining Essential Background Knowledge:
Through the internship, I want to be equipped with substantial knowledge that I don't have in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js and any other programming language and framework.
I would like to learn the different functions of a programmer in a company, the role of different teams, how companies work with programmers and the drivers of success. These are valuable experiences that I would want to have.
C) Perfecting Interpersonal Skills (Soft Skills):
Through the internship, I want to have the ability to connect with people and build trust. I would like to have good personal connections, trust and first impressions. These will also help in preparing me for programming job interviews.
I would like to learn how to communicate with entrepreneurs, customers and other participants in the programming world. I want to learn good communication skills and work ethics.
D) Building a Network of Contacts:
I would like to build relationships with people who can serve as mentors or advisers to me.
I want to expand my network to include other like-minded interns.
I would also build a network of would-be founders and technical specialists.
These are important networks that will be essential to me even as I commence the internship.
